28-29 May, Sofia (Bulgaria) - International conference 'Education - traditions and modernity' took place in the Bulgarian capital. Minin University along with Chinese and US universities actively took part in the conference and was one of the organizers of the event.

The initiative to hold the conference belonged to University of finance, business and entrepreneurship (Sofia). The rector of the university, professor Gregory Vazov, hosted the event. Member of Bulgarian Academy of Science Krum Krumov was another mover of the initiative. Mr Krumov has already introduced and carried out a number of international projects in the sphere of Education.

The authorities of the Bulgarian university realize the significance and necessity of international partnership for the development of educational system both domestically and internationally. The conference was aimed at tackling several acute and topical issues. The processes of globalization and digitalization constantly arouse new challanges in the sphere of higher education. Consequently, the demand for thorough planning and timely reaction to these challanges arises.

Signing the partnership agreement between Higher school of insurance and finance and National university of Beijing became a centrepiece of the Conference. The partnership will invovle systematic student exchanges. Chinese students are expected to commence their studies in Bulgaria soon. A similar agreement is planned to be singed between the Higher School and Minin University next year.

Minin University was presented by Vice-rector for networking and social partnership Mikhail Soloviev. The vice-rector reported on 'Minin University project: ideology, goal-setting system, and core stages of the university development for years 2013-2023'. The report touched upon acute problems of pedagogical education and solutions the university suggests. Some of them are already implemented. The audience welcomed the report, stressing the fact that the board of the university first critically evaluated the current situation, carried out research and then, on defining problems clearly, worked out a sound strategy and ways to cope with the issues.

Mikhail Soloviev noted a report of Askar Yumageldinov (France) concerning educational reforms in Kazakhstan, the speaker's motherland. The report was of interest for the vice-rector from the point of view of his recent visit to Kazakhstan where they also disputed on a similar topic. Another guest-speaker the vice-rector paid attention to was German psychologist Johan Schneider. Minin University is holding negotiations with the scientist concerning the latter's joining the editoral board of 'Vestnik of Minin University' (an academic journal). The same offer was made to professor Krum Krumov which he has already accepted.
