In September Minin University together with the University of Braunschweig (Germany) became the organizer of Summer school "Linguistic Theories in Teaching the Second Foreign Language" in Braunschweig. More than 50 teachers from the universities of Russia, the USA, France, Germany, Canada, Malta, Spain, and Greece became participants of the international summer school. The Minin University was represented by delegation of teachers of foreign-language professional communication department.
The main objective of summer school was searching common ground of theoretical linguistic researches and practice of teaching foreign languages, including training of future teachers of foreign languages.
Each working day of the conference began with the plenary report of the leading scientists in the field of linguistics and the theory of acquiring of native and foreign languages. Professor of the Braunschweig University, Doctor of Science Martin Neef started the school with the report about the role of the international phonetic alphabet ( IPA) in teaching foreign languages. In the next days Doctor of Science, professor of Indiana University of Bloomington David Stringer, Doctor of Science, professor of the University of Southampton, one of the leading world experts in the theory of acquiring of the second language Rumyana Slabakova, Doctor of Science, professor of the York university in Canada Heather Loterington presented the results of their long-term research to the students of summer school .
During five days of the summer school the presentations of thesis research of graduate students, master classes and section performances took place. Within the framework of one of the sections the associate professor of foreign-language professional communication of A.A. Oladyshkina presented the participants of Summer school the report on a role of national and territorial options of language in practice of teaching German. At the postgraduate seminar under the leadership of Doctor of Science Andreas Trotzke from the University of Constanta (Germany) the senior teacher of department of foreign-language professional communication E.O. Midova submitted the draft of the master's thesis devoted to indirect speech acts in German. Upon closing of the summer school all participants and speakers received certificates of professional development of Minin University and certificates of the Braunschweig University.
The summer school became the second joint event of the University of Braunschweig and the Minin University. In April, 2018 the Braunschweig University acted as the co-organizer of the International scientific and practical conference "Scientific discussion: problems of Philology and the Technique of teaching foreign languages" which took place at Minin University.
Within the framework of the conference the research associates of the Braunschweig University Yulia Edeleva and Catharina Vedler held the seminar for teachers devoted to the application of references at the lessons of German.
